~ About Us ~
A Little History...
We are Larry and Michelle Mote of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. We have 2 children...
our daughter, Morgan, and our son, Tyler. Both are involved in Jr. Handling and
are wonderful ring-side assistants. We are very proud of all that they are learning.
We have had chows in our lives since 1992, when we were introduced to this breed
while we were dating in high school. Our first chow was a rescue, of sorts.
His name was Bear, and he was being given away. When we saw the condition
he was on, we decided immediately that we had to take him home. After alot of
TLC and alot of trips to the vet, he was on his way to recovery, and along the way,
we fell in love with him and his breed.
Now, here we are 15 years later, and are still totally in love with this awesome breed.
In 2004, we started looking for a show chow after we attended a Festival where
a Kennel Club was showcasing different breeds from the area. We saw our first show
chow there and started researching and asking questions as to why our chows did not
look like that. We also were able to better understand the breed standard thru all
of questions that we asked, and were then able set goals as to what we should have
relating to our chows. We then went searching for our first show chow, and in
Dec '04, we had the priviledge of meeting Dee Pearson of Kainin Chows. We brought
Ace home, and started learning all the "ins and outs" of the ring. It didn't take long to
get hooked on showing, and in Jan '05, we brought home Trace, from Maikinda Chows,
and Zeta, from Request Chows. Then in Jan '06, we brought home Jo Jo from
Chen Chu Chows. Since becoming involved in showing, we have finished 3 of our
chows, and in Aug '06, we had our first show litter ...of 7!!!
We also have 3 unofficial mascots of Mo-Ty Chows ....
Pooh Bear, our 9 year old German Shepherd/Husky mix has been with us since she was
8 weeks old. We also have a pet chow named Buttercup, who is 5 and has been with us
since she was 8 weeks old. And our 3rd mascot is Wedge. She is a cat that was rescued
when she was around 4-5 weeks, in the Fall of '06. Our daughter found her under a car
hood meowing like crazy. We wouldn't trade any of them for the world:)
